Decided on topic, and started preproduction, and gathering of B Roll. The docu. will be on The Vogue's history. It started as a big movie palace, and has become a nightclub. Starting to gather old movie clips and photos for B Roll.

Constructed outline, and started planning out ideas, and planning for scheduling to shoot over spring break.

Discovered a great website that has tuns of movie trailers (both older and newer) that can be downloaded as quicktime files.

Shot interview footage of my Grandma. Have multible problems with the footage. Despite using a lighting kit, and the footage looking good in the viewfinder, the footage came out dark, and thier was a humming sound in the footage. I shot the interview footage twice, but it will need lots of color correction, and noise reduction.

Had to return equipment rental. Started to edit interview footage with B-Roll... I had already shot some external shots of the nightclub as well. I decided to make some clips with DVD pro that can be incorperated in as B Roll.

Shot a few clips of B Roll w/ my still camera, so the documentry will have lots of different looks.
Also I discovered and downloaded something called youtube downloader, which has helped provide a wealth of B Roll to use. In addition, found a website (broadripplehistory.org... I think) that has tons of great old pics. I also have a VHS old home movie I will use.

Spent most of day working on rough cut of available footage. I was able to contact the genral manager of The Vogue and he agreed to let me and Nick come in on Saturday to shoot some B Roll in the club. Nick has access to high def camera, so it should work out well.

Shot B Roll at Vogue. Got good footage, but everybody was busy setting up, so didn't get any good interview footage.
3-22-09
Spent first half of day editing footage, then interviewed local historian. Went to Broad Ripple again to see if could get some more external shots. Found out The Vogue is actually closed on Sundays, so I felt like a dumbass, but was able to get some footage driving up and down the strip.

Did some logging and capturing, and some editing. I have a rough cut, but am having issues with the footage Nick shot in High Def. I downlaoded it as a .mpeg, but final cut won't recognize it. I had to run it through adobe media encoder and save it as a .mpeg2 file (I think), but the footage, though looking very good, is glitchy and pixelated in spots.

More editing... I have rough cut, but still have to work w/ sound and color correction, and pacing, and music selections.
3-25-09
Finished final cut and did best color correction and noise reduction I was able to with the interview footage. Also redid some editing on the narration. Spent all night in the computer lab finishing the edit and rendering, and putting on DVD.
